Because of the passing of the first owner (Ton F.J. Pronker) we had to sell “Kaap Bol IV”, a Neptunian 33 Ketch.

The ship was built in 1976 by J.W. Shuttlewood & Son Ltd., Pagelsham, Essex, England.
The GRP hull was made by Tyler's, who were building the highest quality GRP hulls in those days. The design came from Alan Buchanan (the design is Neptunian 33).

It is a ketch-rigged S-framed longkeeler. Hull, deck and superstructure with GPR of much heavier construction than is usual nowadays. The hull is absolutely free from osmosis. The woodwork is all teak.

Length 10 meters over deck; 11 meters over all; width 3 meters; draft close to 1,5 meters; displacement 10 tons.

The rigging is more extensive and with heavier wiring than the original design.
Mainsail, furling genua and mizzen sail are practically new. Moreover, there is a stormjib, mizzen stay sail, try sail and double 'bollejan' (sort of a spinnaker).

The engine is a Perkins 4108, 35 hp diesel.
Extensive anchoring gear.
Windvane and electric selfsteering devises.
Liferaft and inflatable dinghy.
Sestrel compass. GPS, radar, echosounder, RDF, radio, VHF, solar panel.
340 amp/h batteries.
Three-color toplight.
Towing generator.
Reflex stove on dieseloil.
Taylor paraffin cooking stove.

Tanks: 400 liters drinking water, 380 liter diesel oil, 40 liter cooking kerosene.

Large chart table with drawers for admiralty sized charts.
Plenty stowing space.
Impressive stock of spare parts.

Accommodation much improved compared with original design. One double berth and three single berths, spacious toilet and washing room, extensive storage space.

Electric systems require some updating.

Voyages: European coasts from Spitsbergen to Gibraltar, Baltic Sea, around Great Britain and Ireland and well over three years single-handed around the world. Exceptionally good oceangoing vessel.

Kaap Bol IV is a good seagoing ship. Not focussed on comfort but fitted in such a way that a skipper with two right hands can be independent in all circumstances. There is some maintenance work to be done.
